Spank Rock are an American hip-hop/rap group. Their style is generally described as a mix of underground alternative rap, and electro.

Biography

Spank Rock began performing in Philadelphia, where their reputation quickly increased. They later toured with Hollertronix and M.I.A.; they also toured with Beck in 2006. Their lineup consists of MC Spank Rock (Naeem Juwan) with any of producer Armani XXXchange (Alex Epton), Chris Rockswell (Chris Devlin), Ronnie Darko (Ronald Rubarth), and rapper-singer Amanda Blank. Chris Rockswell and Ronnie Darko (Devlin & Darko) are also part of Baltimore Bass Connection (BBC), among other acts such as Pase Rock. Spank Rock's debut album YoYoYoYoYo was released in 2006 on the Big Dada record label. His most recent release, a 5 song EP Bangers & Cash made in collaboration with producer/DJ and former Disco D intern, Benny Blanco, was inspired by the booty bass sounds of 2 Live Crew. Spank Rock is soon to record his second full length album.
   Their single, "Bump", was named Single of the Year by Xfm London breakfast DJ Lauren Laverne in 2006. "Bump" was also played at the beginning of an episode of Entourage.
   On January 13th, 2007, Spank Rock appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live. They performed their songs "Sweet Talk" and "Rick Rubin".
   In the video game, the song "What It Look Like" appears. Additionally, in Madden NFL 07, "Backyard Betty" is featured.
   On May 8th, they opened for Björk at the Apollo Theatre in New York.
   On November 8th, 2007, they performed at the mtvU Woodie Awards show in New York City.
   In May 2008 Spank Rock collaborated with Feadz on a track called "Back It Up" which is to appear on Ed Rec Vol. 3
